A little less than 8 miles north of I121 on FM 423 (also known as Main Street to the north or Josey Lane to the south) is a little pizza place that you might miss if you’re not looking for it. Tucked into a little strip on the east side of the street is Slingin’ Pizza, where owner; Audrey, and her team and serving up some really tasty fresh, handmade pizza!
Many pizza-lovers say, “it all starts with good sauce” and you’ll find that here with their own, house-made Marinara, Italian, Garlic Parmesan, and Buttermilk Ranch.
You can choose from 8”, 12”, 14” and 16” pies and from a list of 9 Specialty Pizzas or Build-Your-Own. They also offer a 10” Cauliflower Gluten-Sensitive Crust and, while the kitchen is not a gluten-free area, the team works hard to minimize any gluten cross-contamination.
Complimenting the menu, Slingin’ Pizza also offers Baked Wings, Garlic Knots, Mozzarella Sticks, Garlic Cheese Bread, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Salads and a “Bowl of Asteroids” (Meatball bake with choice of fresh veggie and sauce)
For my first visit, one pizza jumped off the page at me. The Apollo! The Apollo starts with their House-Made Garlic Parmesan Sauce and topped with Meatballs, Bell Peppers, Onions, Black Olives and Mozzarella Cheese. The result is as original as in is flavorful! You won’t miss the Marinara. The Garlic-Parmesan sauce blends so well with the toppings that you’ll wonder why other pizza spots don’t offer this. Not to be outdone, it is unmistakable that this is all atop a fresh, hand-made crust.
If you like to finish your meal with something sweet, choose from Halley’s Cookie (Chocolate Chip Cookie that serves 2-4), a Chocolate Chip Cannoli, or some Twisted Cinnamon Space Knots.
While there is a small table inside, most of their business is carry-out or delivery via GrubHub, UberEats, or DoorDash, so plan accordingly. If you’re like me, once you try it, you’ll be craving it again and again. So, if you’re anywhere near the Little Elm area, give Slingin’ Pizza a try!
