Hopdoddy Burger Bar - Euless

Just off I121 in Euless, Hopdoddy is among the numerous food and entertainment venues to expand into the Glade Park development. With the goal of “setting a new standard for burger bars” Hopdoddy does introduce not-so-typical ingredients to the usual burger and fries, and also serves local craft beer in a casual, somewhat bohemian atmosphere.

The set-up is counter order and table delivery, with self-serve drink refills. There are a few TVs scattered around the restaurant as music plays throughout.

The unique burger selections include the Buffalo Bill, Goodnight/Good Cause (with a portion of the proceeds donated to local charities), the Magic Shroom, and El Diablo. For those with special dietary needs, they also offer an Ahi Tuna and Vegan Patty as well as a Gluten-Free Bun.

A fan of the sweet & savory mix, I chose the Bacon Jam Double. This features two hamburger patties (albeit they seem a bit smaller than the single patties), mustard grilled onions, pickled mayo, and a tomato bacon jam, topped with both white and yellow American cheese.

The flavors come together very well, with one exception – the America cheese gets a little over-powering. I would have liked to see this burger include a cheese with more character. Perhaps white cheddar or smoked gouda. Honestly, I’d probably prefer any cheese over the sharp, somewhat artificial flavor of American cheese! Cheese aside, the rest was very flavorful, and a good combination. The bun is a little plain, but holds up nicely throughout.

The fries are in sharable portions, and also offer some original flavors, such as BBQ Ranch, Buffalo, Green Chili Queso and Nacho, along with Sweet Potato Fries that also can be ordered as Hot Honey & Sage. I ordered the Green Chili Queso which are seasoned fries served with a green chili queso sauce for dipping. These were good – not great, and I liked them better without the sauce, which didn’t really add much.

The service was friendly and helpful, and I like the overall vibe, but I can’t imagine this as a regular lunch spot, or even weekly burger, as the prices just seem high for the product delivered. I have no issue with paying for good quality burgers in a unique atmosphere, but I feel like this would have to be more of a special occasion, and for that, Hopdoddy wouldn’t be at the top of my list.
